Don’t let her pint size fool you, this social media guru recently placed 3rd in Tourism Australia’s “Best Job in the World” campaign and has been regularly featured in Verge Magazine documenting her experience abroad. Here are 10 things that you should know about this AIESECer and recent Memorial University graduate – Beth Saunders.
1) Where is your hometown?
Kingston, Nova Scotia.
2) State one fun fact about yourself
My birthday is on Valentine’s Day.
3) What program did you graduate from?
Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative).
4) What made you join AIESEC?
I was first interested in AIESEC for the possibility of having a work term abroad but then I wanted to help start the chapter to give others the opportunity to work and volunteer abroad and gain more volunteer experience in my field.
5) What position(s) have you held in AIESEC?
Vice President of Communications and Director of Recruitment.
6) Which portfolio have you been/ are currently involved in?
Communications and Talent Management.
7) What is your most memorable AIESEC experience?
Definitely going to National Congress 2011 (NC 2011). This was my first AIESEC conference and one which had a tremendous impact on me. This conference is what inspired me to take on the role of VP and where I first truly understood the value of AIESEC. This was where we were voted in as the 28th chapter of AIESEC Canada and it was an amazing experience to be a part of that and surrounded by so many positive and encouraging people.
8) What is the best thing about AIESEC?
The international support network. AIESECers are like family and because of this you will always have friends wherever you go.
9) What are your plans after graduation?
I will be staying in St. John’s for the summer and if all goes according to plan I will be working and travelling around Australia starting late September anywhere from 6 months to a year.
10) Advice to current crop of AIESECers
Be everything that you can be. AIESEC is a phenomenal program which will instill desires in you that you never thought possible. It will help you learn a lot about yourself both personally and professionally. You will get as much out of AIESEC as you put in so take the time to learn and make mistakes because this experience will help you more than you will ever truly know.
